James Reviews The Views – Yangshuo

This will be a short, sharp series of blog posts. For each of the locations we visit I will give a to-the-point, no nonsense assessment of the city/town/village.

  • Location: Yangshuo
  • Population: 300,000
  • Must see: Sunrise or sunset from one of the many mountains. We’d recommend Xianggong Mountain (the best view below) for sunrise and Moon Hill for sunset. Tip for Moon Hill – As you come through the main arc of the hill there’s a small trail to your left with a sign saying no entry. Take this route!!
  • Must do: It’s expensive but if you can afford the 200 RMB (£22) the bamboo boat cruise down the River Yulong is fantastic.
  • Watch out for: The price of beer down West Street!
  • Hostel recommendation: Yangshuo Sudder Street Hostel – great pool and a great place to meet people.
  • Beer of Choice 🍻: Not this…
The Carling of Chinese beer
  • Best place to drink 🍻: West Street is a hive of activity every night and has some really good bars. The problem is they are incredibly expensive with a beer pushing 80 RMB (£8.80) in some places
